Come be a part of the awesome things happening at Altura!
Research has proven that when parents get involved in their children’s education, good things happen. Grades go up, test scores rise, and behavior improves. Did you know that you can support student success at Altura by giving just an hour or two of your time? Volunteering your time can look many different ways. You can come in once or twice a week or once or twice a month, whatever works for you! Help out a teacher with small projects, clerical work, small reading and math groups, library time, or book orders. Help at recess and in the cafeteria or with nutrition classes once a month or at an event after school. The possibilities are endless! Then join us at the end of year volunteer appreciation breakfast where we celebrate you and all you've given to our community! Our parent and community volunteers gave over 2000 hours to the students last year.
All volunteers have to be approved by Mrs. Harrington before starting work at school. Parents are welcome to reach out to teachers to find out what they need, but if you plan on being in the school for longer than 20 minutes a day, you must go through the volunteer process. We also ask that all volunteers sign in to the front office so that we can log your hours throughout the year. Reach out to our Family Liaison and Volunteer coordinator, Thursday Harding, today and help make a difference at Altura!
