Dear Altura Elementary School Community,
I am honored and delighted at the prospect of joining you as the new principal of Altura, home of the mighty Wildcats! After dedicating ten wonderful years to an elementary school in Denver Public Schools, I have come to deeply appreciate the value of community, the power of a shared vision, and the abundance of joy that lives in the hearts of our kiddos and the halls of elementary school.
As we begin this journey together, I want to express my unwavering commitment to building a partnership with you. I am eager to learn your unique stories and lived experiences, understand and value your perspective, and meet your students right where they are, without exception. They will be seen, heard, wanted and included. You have entrusted us with your children, and we pledge to keep them safe, help them to learn and grow, hold them accountable, and love them every day in your absence.
On a personal note, my husband and I are blessed with a zesty house full of kiddos - two adventurous boys aged 11 and 8, a spirited 5-year-old daughter, and the squishy sweetness of our newest addition, a baby boy who just turned 9 months old. They bring immense joy and perspective to our life, reminding me daily of the importance of our work and the impact an amazing elementary school experience can have on the life of a young person.
I believe wholeheartedly in the power of cutting-edge, research-based instructional practices, structured literacy, predictable routines and expectations, and the transformative impact of life-altering relationships. I am eager to come alongside our teachers and staff to learn about what makes our community unique, and together, I am confident that we can equip our young Wildcats with the skills, knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to chase wild dreams and achieve bold goals.
My door is always open, and I encourage you to reach out to me via email, text, or feel free to pop in anytime. No problem is too big or too small, and I am here to listen, support, and partner with you every step of the way. It’s an honor to come alongside you as we nurture, challenge and motivate your children to find success in elementary school, middle school and beyond.
