Dear Altura Elementary Community,
What an extraordinary first year it has been! As I step into my second year as principal of Altura Elementary—now proudly the home of the Aguiluchos—I do so with immense gratitude, renewed purpose, and unwavering excitement for all that lies ahead.
Our journey together last year laid a strong foundation for the transformation we are building—a school community grounded in belonging, excellence, and shared values. This year, we take flight with a new slogan: “Rise. Grow. SOAR!” and embrace a new motto: “Altura Elementary: Where belonging leads and excellence follows.”
Guided by this vision, we have launched our core values—the heartbeat of who we are and who we are becoming. At Altura, we A.S.P.I.R.E. to be: [A]ccountable in our actions, [S]eek Joy in learning and]life, [P]ursue Excellence in all we do, [I]nclusive of every identity, [R]esilient through every challenge and [E]mpathetic in every relationship. These values are not just words—they are promises we make to one another as students, staff, and families.
As we begin this new year together, I remain deeply committed to ensuring that every child who walks through our doors is safe to show up as their true self and knows without a doubt that they are seen, heard, wanted, and included. We will continue to challenge them with rigorous content, support them with research-based instruction, and surround them with a community of adults who believe in their limitless potential.
On a personal note, our family continues to grow and thrive alongside this community. My husband and I are still very much in the thick of parenting four joyful, witty, high-energy children—from a middle schooler to our littlest explorer, who is now toddling and talking. They remind me daily why this work matters and what a powerful difference a loving, well-led school can make in the life of a child.
